Cherokee County 911 Foundation Honors Cassie Early with the Sue Bell Legacy Award

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA – On April 18, 2025, in conjunction with the conclusion of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the Cherokee County E-9-1-1 Department hosted a celebratory reception recognizing the exceptional contributions and service of its team members.

During the event, the Cherokee County 911 Foundation proudly presented the Sue Bell Legacy Award to Cassie Early, Communications Training Officer, in recognition of her outstanding dedication, leadership, and embodiment of the values cherished by the award’s namesake.

The award, named in honor of Sue Capolla (affectionately known as “Mrs. Sue Bell”), commemorates her 15 years of devoted service as both a Communications Officer and Communications Training Officer with Cherokee County E-9-1-1. Sue Capolla, who retired in 2010, was widely respected for her resilience, positivity, compassion, drive, and humility.

"She was more than a friend – she was family. Loyal, loving, a mother to all, and resilient in ways that inspired everyone who knew her," shared Linda Miller, Deputy Director of Cherokee County E-9-1-1.

Cassie Early was selected for the award by department leadership for consistently demonstrating these same qualities. “She ‘shows up’ in all forms. She puts things aside to be there for anyone who needs her. She truly goes the extra mile to be an inspiration to so many,” said Shane Bonebrake, Director of Cherokee County E-9-1-1.

The award was presented by Sue Capolla’s children, Jamie Gianfala and Kate Cates, in a heartfelt tribute to their mother’s legacy. Mrs. Capolla’s third son, Mike Gianfala, was unable to attend the event.

Cassie Early has been a dedicated member of the Cherokee County E-9-1-1 team since 2016, beginning her career as a Communications Officer before advancing to her current role as a Communications Training Officer.

The Cherokee County 911 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is committed to supporting, advocating for, and advancing the professionals and mission of Cherokee County E-9-1-1.
