At the conclusion of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2025, the Cherokee County E9-1-1 Department hosted a reception on April 18 to celebrate the outstanding contributions of its team members. During the event, the Cherokee County 911 Foundation proudly announced the establishment of the Blakey Education Grant—a new initiative created to support the educational pursuits of Cherokee County E9-1-1 employees.
The grant is named in honor of Jason Blakey, Vice President of the Cherokee County 911 Foundation, and his wife, Jennifer Blakey, a devoted educator with 27 years of service in the Cherokee County School District. The Blakey Education Grant is a testament to their shared passion for education and their unwavering commitment to the betterment of the Cherokee County community.
Jason Blakey has been a driving force behind the creation of the grant, reflecting his long-standing dedication to advancing educational opportunities within the county. Known for his active involvement in local schools and community organizations—including the Rotary Club of Canton, the Canton Optimist Club, and the Boys & Girls Club—Jason consistently champions education at all levels.
Jennifer Blakey, who currently serves as the Media Specialist at Avery Elementary, has spent nearly three decades shaping young minds and supporting students in the Cherokee County School District. Her legacy of service and commitment to educational excellence has positively impacted countless families and colleagues throughout the county.
"The work and mission of Cherokee County E9-1-1 holds a special place in our hearts," said Jason Blakey. "It is a true honor to be part of an initiative that supports, advocates for, and advances the educational goals of the dedicated men and women of Cherokee County E9-1-1. Too often, financial roadblocks stand in the way of educational advancement—but with this grant, we look forward to transforming those roadblocks into building blocks toward a brighter future."
The Blakey Education Grant will provide tuition reimbursement for Cherokee County E9-1-1 employees, helping to ease the financial burden of pursuing higher education and professional development.
